This time of year is crazy for me but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
Every year I host my exptended family for Thanksgiving. There are 25 to 30 of us depending on whether the California cousins make it. It's my favorite holiday and includes canoe races, fishing, charades, our (very competative) dictionary game and so much food that by the time I'm typing this blog we are all swearing off turkey and dressing for the year!
The festivities start the day before Thanksgiving as overnight guests start arriving. Things wrap up on Friday midday when the last of the relatives head back to their homes. I kick back, catch my breath, rest for about five minutes, then pack up Thanksgiving and begin prep for my Holiday Art Party.
Next Saturday I'll open my home and studio for my annual Holiday Art Party and Sale. About this time each November I ask myself why do I do this but when my home is full of laughter, friends, family, art, and music, I remember the answer and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Between the decorating, cooking and cleaning I hope to get in my studio and finish up a few new paintings and a batch of little encaustic angels. I'll also be offering a few select older works at reduced prices. If you are in the neighborhood, drop by and kick off the holiday season with a little art.
If everything goes as planned these two paintings will be completed and hanging on the walls by Saturday night. Hope to see you then and if you see a stray pumpkin that didn't get packed away, please kick it under the sofa.
